Cross-Border Secure Networking: Connecting US and India Operations via On-Premises Site-to-Site IPsec VPN
The Challenge
A business required a highly secure, private connection between its branch office in India and its core on-premises data server located at their US headquarters. Remote and branch employees needed a bulletproof method to access the server via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) without exposing critical database assets to the public internet.

- On-Premises Infrastructure: Hardened and optimized the centralized Windows Server 2022 physical environment in the US.
- Hardware-to-Hardware Security: Deployed and configured dual FortiGate 40F Next-Generation Firewalls — one at the US headquarters and one at the India branch office.
- Site-to-Site IPsec Tunnel: Established a permanent, encrypted IPsec VPN tunnel between both firewalls, allowing seamless, secure cross-border network communication.
- Endpoint Optimization: Configured and secured end-user laptops for remote access, providing user training for secure RDP sessions.
- Centralized Governance: Unified the monitoring of the US server, dual FortiGate firewalls, and employee endpoints using advanced RMM tools for proactive patching and real-time vulnerability management.
